Hotel La Luz is located in Rancho San Martín, a quiet jungle neighborhood approximately 8 minutes north of Akumal and directly across the highway from the Grand Sirenis resort community. Once you turn off Highway 307, the drive to the property is about 5 minutes down a wide dirt road lined with tropical vegetation.
Although we are close to Akumal, the setting is intentionally secluded and rural — guests should expect jungle sounds, minimal street lighting, and an off-the-beaten-path atmosphere rather than a walkable resort zone.
Google Maps will guide you directly to the property without issue.
A Rental Car Is Strongly Recommended
Because Hotel La Luz is tucked into a residential jungle area, having your own vehicle makes the stay significantly easier and more enjoyable.
There are no sidewalks, shops, or restaurants within walking distance, and taxis in the Riviera Maya can be expensive and unreliable for repeated short trips. Guests without a car often find themselves limited in their ability to explore beaches, cenotes, restaurants, and nearby towns at their own pace.
For this reason, we strongly recommend renting a car directly from either Cancun International Airport or Tulum International Airport upon arrival.
Parking is free and easy on the property.
Driving From Cancun Airport
Most guests arrive through Cancun International Airport, which is roughly a one-hour drive north of us via Highway 307, the main coastal highway running through the Riviera Maya.
The route is simple:
Exit the airport, follow signs to Playa del Carmen/Tulum, continue south on Highway 307, and take the Rancho San Martín/Grand Sirenis turnoff just after Akumal. From there, Hotel La Luz is approximately 5 minutes inland.
The drive is entirely paved until the final neighborhood road and is commonly traveled by rental car visitors.
Guests arriving through Tulum International Airport can expect a drive of approximately 45 minutes.
